Best seafood Newcastle has to offer!

Scratchleys on the Wharf

Capturing the ultimate in dining experience and admiring views of Newcastle Harbour, the old ferry terminal restaurant redevelopment accentuates beautiful scenery, elegance and extravagance.

The iconic Scratchleys on the Wharf by Neil Slater is the kind of restaurant experience you will need to relinquish your hard earned salary for. Whilst attention to detail is emphasised throughout the entire building and location, the dining room décor is simple, with glass doors and windows allowing the view to take this experience to another level.

We are seated at a quieter end of the dining room next to an open window. The cool breeze on this warm summer’s day is appreciated.

Whilst a keen and impeccably dressed waitress quietly fills my wine glass, my attention is drawn to the artfully plated meals Head Chef Nathan Bunting is creating in the kitchen. Although highly priced, many diners around me are noisily devouring the most popular menu item; the seafood platter. My menu choice is easily made.

Classic flavour combinations are merged to join entrée, main and dessert. I relish the array of fresh delicate flavoursome seafood decoratively placed on a bed of seasonal fruit and salad; served with crispy golden fried fish, chips and calamari.

Prepared by top-ranking chefs, a well prepared menu offers an endless selection from fresh local seafood to sizzling steaks.

Whilst Scratchleys is expensive, you get what you pay for; excellent service, amazing views and a menu created with the finest produce; meticulously prepared.
